Another left-wing “fact-check” goes down the drain.
In late April, the liberal website Snopes changed a previous ruling that dismissed conservative claims that a diary written by Ashley Biden, President Joe Biden’s daughter, was real and authentic.
As Snopes noted, the diary came to light in October 2020 after it was obtained by Project Veritas.
Once its contents became known, conservatives pointed to the diary as more evidence of Joe Biden’s inappropriate and often creepy behavior toward young women and girls.

In her writings, Ashley Biden questioned whether she had actually been molested as a youngster and discussed having taken "showers with my dad (probably not appropriate)."
The diary was discovered in spring 2020 after Ashley moved out of an apartment in Delray Beach, Florida.
The woman who moved into Ashley’s former place, Aimee Harris, found it and worked with another man to get it to Project Veritas, which reportedly paid $40,000 for it.
Project Veritas, however, declined to publish the diary for concern it may not be real. It was leaked by another outlet, National File, that received the diary from someone at Project Veritas.
Snopes, whose business is largely built on discrediting claims by conservatives, declared the claims of the diary’s accuracy were “unproven.”

Yet the website reversed itself after Ashley Biden herself confirmed the contents.
Harris and her helper were arrested and charged with conspiracy to transport stolen property across state lines in the deal with Project Veritas.
Last month, Ashley wrote a letter to the judge pushing for Harris to be punished.
“After being the victim of a crime in my early twenties, I developed PTSD. The journal that was stolen was part of my efforts to heal,” she wrote to the judge.
“I am a private citizen, targeted only because my father happened to be running to be President. In other words, the extensive work I have done to move past my trauma was undone by Ms. Harris's actions.”
“I will forever have to deal with the fact that my personal journal can be viewed online,” Ashley added. “Repeatedly, I hear others grossly misinterpret my once-private writings and lob false accusations that defame my character and those of the people I love.”

In its admission of the changed ruling, Snopes noted, “Because published court documents including the written testimony of Ashley Biden herself demonstrate the reality of the diary, the claim that it has been ‘confirmed’ is True.”
Even with that, however, as the conservative website Twitchy noted, “President Joe Biden will of course never be asked to explain these passages, which were just stream-of-consciousness ramblings. Hunter and Ashley … what great parents they had.”
