'An entertaining game of football': Paul Merson predicts Brighton vs Chelsea score

Chelsea travel to the Amex Stadium on Wednesday to take on Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League.

It is a big game for Chelsea, who could move up to sixth with a win and give themselves a real chance of qualifying for next season’s Europa League.

Of course, Mauricio Pochettino‘s men will also need Newcastle United to lose, with the Magpies taking on Manchester United.

Eddie Howe’s side are currently ahead of Chelsea, but only on goal difference.

After their trip to the Amex, Chelsea host Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge on the last day of the season. It could be Pochettino’s final game in charge, as his position as manager is going to be considered when the club go through their review of the campaign, according to The Telegraph. The Argentine has been linked to AC Milan, but taking over there seems unlikely because of his wages.

Paul Merson on Brighton & Hove Albion vs Chelsea

Chelsea need the three points as they chase down that final Europa League spot, especially if Newcastle go on to beat Manchester United.

Paul Merson, though, does not think that the Blues will be able to get the job done.

Predicting the outcome of the game for Sportskeeda, the Arsenal legend said: “Brighton have also picked up some form recently and have become a much better team at the back end of the season with nothing to play for.

“I think this will be an entertaining game of football so I’m going for a 2-2 draw.”

Will Brighton & Hove Albion vs Chelsea be a draw?

Chelsea have been in good form of late, beating Nottingham Forest, West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur in their last three games, and need the win more than their opponents.

With that in mind, then, you can imagine a Chelsea victory, especially if Cole Palmer turns up.

The attacker has been a goal and assist machine under Pochettino this season.

In the Premier League, Palmer has scored 21 goals and provided 10 assists, giving Chelsea a chance of securing Europa League football in the first place.
