Bruno Fernandes and Man Utd teammates react as Raphael Varane announces his departure

Raphael Varane’s exit from Manchester United has been confirmed for this summer, now his teammates have reacted.

On Tuesday, the announcement came that many were already expecting, with Raphael Varane set to depart the club in June when his contract expires.

In his three seasons with Manchester United, Varane might not have lived up to expectations of him being world-class, but he has developed a bond with the fanbase and we’ll be sad to see him go.

But on the field, this is absolutely the correct decision and there are countless reasons as to why that is.

After the announcement, Varane’s United teammates have all been reacting in the comments of his post.

Manchester United players react to Raphael Varane’s exit

Varane announced his departure through Instagram, to which, his teammates responded.

As Varane’s teammates began to send their messages, Bruno Fernandes led the messages as he wrote: “Was a pleasure Rolls-Royce”, followed by a heart emoji.

Harry Maguire also joined in, writing: “Pleasure to play with [you] mate”, also followed by a heart emoji.

“Legend! My warrior”, wrote Diogo Dalot to his defensive partner.

Amad Diallo also reacted, as he wrote “Merci Legende”, with two heart emojis.

It wasn’t just current United players who sent messages either, with ex-players and some of Varane’s former teammates also commenting.

“You are a great one, my friend”, former United midfielder Juan Mata commented, along with a heart emoji.

Rio Ferdinand commented, “Respect”.

From his Real Madrid days, Luka Modric commented, writing: “Grande Rapha”. While Phil Jones wrote: “Legend Rapha”.

Varane will be a big miss but he can be replaced

Losing a player with the experience of Varane at this stage in his career is more damaging off the pitch rather than on the pitch.

He’s a real leader in the dressing room but on the pitch, he’s a player who’s become unreliable through his injury proneness.

This summer it’s expected that one of the priorities will be a new defender for United. A young, powerful and technically excellent centre-half.

Signing a player like Jean-Clair Todibo, Antonio Silva or Leny Yoro in replacement would be a smart move from United and make allowing Varane to leave justified.

With his wage of £340k-a-week being saved, United can put that substantial amount toward replenishing the squad this summer.
