'I've seen': TalkSPORT pundit claims Chelsea player has gone to 'a different level' since the start of April

Simon Jordan thinks there’s a player in the Chelsea side that has taken his game up another level in the last six weeks.

In general, Chelsea as a team has been heading on an upward trajectory in 2024, despite the inconsistent performances.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side picked up only 25 points from their first 19 Premier League games of the season. They sat 10th in the division table after a pretty turbulent first half of the campaign.

However, the Blues have played 17 league matches since the halfway point, collecting a much improved 32 points in that time. As a result, they’re up to seventh in the table with two matches remaining.

Simon Jordan says Chelsea man has got even better

TalkSPORT pundit Simon Jordan believes that Chelsea’s Cole Palmer has stepped up his game since the start of April until now.

The Chelsea Chronicle would argue that the 22-year-old attacking playmaker has been the standout individual at Stamford Bridge all season. However, the England star does have eight goals in seven Premier League appearances since the start of April.

“I kind of had reservations about him (Palmer) initially because I thought there’s no way that [Pep] Guardiola just lets him go because he can’t manage the kid’s expectations,” Jordan told talkSPORT.

“Then I’ve seen in the last six weeks an acceleration in Cole Palmer. I thought he was doing well but in recent performances, he’s gone to a different level.”

Cole Palmer should be eyeing England starting XI spot

With the way Palmer’s been playing for Chelsea, especially in recent weeks, his position in the England squad at this summer’s Euro 2024 tournament should be a no-brainer. In fact, he’s making a great argument for himself when it comes to making Gareth Southgate’s best line-up.

Palmer, who’s only got two senior England caps, doesn’t have the experience of most of his rivals. It’s a mark against him going into a major tournnament.

However, Chelsea’s super talent is nominated for both the Premier League Player of the Year and Premier League Young Player of the Year. It would be a bold decision to leave out one of the most in-form players around right now.

Our question to Southgate is can he find room for Palmer, Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden and Bukayo Saka in the same XI?
