Report: Newcastle United are now confident they can sign £13m 'leader' very soon

Newcastle United are on track to sign Tosin Adarabioyo from Fulham, and he could swiftly be followed by another arrival.

The Magpies are looking to bring the 26-year-old in on a free transfer, with Tosin Adarabioyo‘s contract at Craven Cottage due to expire this summer. He will be leaving the West London club, and Newcastle United are in pole position to sign him up.

Tosin is keen to work with Eddie Howe at St James’ Park, which is no surprise given how good the Newcastle United manager is at making players better. The likes of Joelinton and Anthony Gordon are testament to that.

The former Manchester City defender will hope he can follow in their footsteps if he does make the move to Tyneside, and he is not the only soon-to-be free agent that Toon officials are trying to bring in.

Newcastle confident about another transfer after Tosin Adarabioyo

According to iNews, Newcastle United are close to agreeing a deal with Tosin, and are also aiming to complete another deal.

Lloyd Kelly has also been heavily linked with a free transfer to St James’ Park, and iNews add that Newcastle United are confident that they can agree a deal for the Bournemouth defender.

Signing two solid Premier League defenders on free transfers would be great business, and a deal for Kelly has been years in the making – assuming it goes through.

Newcastle United and Eddie Howe are not new admirers of Lloyd Kelly

The 25-year-old has been a rumoured target for Newcastle ever since Howe took over, and he was actually viewed as someone who was likely to join Newcastle during his first transfer window.

That obviously did not happen, but now there is a good chance that Howe and Kelly could be reunited.

If Newcastle do complete a deal, it would be the second time in his career that Howe has signed Kelly. He was in charge when Bournemouth brought him in for £13million. He was quickly impressed with the defender, who has described himself as a ‘leader‘.

Kelly has developed even further since Howe first signed him, and could be a really shrewd addition to a Newcastle squad that has struggled defensively. With Tosin and Kelly, the Magpies will have more depth, while there is the added bonus that the latter can also play at left-back.

That means he is an ideal replacement for Dan Burn when the time comes for the local lad to step back. Newcastle are planning for the future, whilst also ensuring they can spend more money elsewhere by tapping into the free agent market.
