Arsenal fans' plan to disrupt Man City preparations goes badly wrong leaving many divided

Arsenal fans are desperate to see their side win a first Premier League title since 2004, and some went to extreme lengths to disrupt Manchester City in the race.

Mikel Arteta’s side are currently one point ahead of Man City ahead of the final day, but Man City have a game in hand which will come against Arsenal’s bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

It is not the first time a club, or even Arsenal, have had to hope for their rivals to win in a title race, and Arsenal fans and players will be hoping that the other North London side can pull off a result against Pep Guardiola’s juggernauts.

With Man City set to play at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, they know that anything short of a win will hand Arsenal the advantage in the race, and Spurs know that they have to win to keep their chances of a top-four finish alive.

Arsenal fans are so eager to see Man City drop points that they took it upon themselves to disrupt their pre-match preparations. However, this did not go as intended.

Arsenal fans fail in attempt to disrupt Man City with fireworks display

Some Arsenal fans were seemingly fed information that the Man City squad would be staying at a Marriott Hotel in North London, and as previously seen in some European ties, they set off fireworks in the early hours to attempt to disrupt their sleep.

However, a problem they faced was that the Man City squad were not actually staying there, with Guardiola and his players travelling down on the morning of the game rather than the night before.

Given the hilarity of the situation the fans now find themselves in, there has been a mixed response from the rest of the Arsenal fanbase towards their actions.

Some saw the funny side, and applauded the effort the few fans went through, pointing out that the reaction may have been different if a European fanbase had done the same.

“It’s quite funny, other teams do it and it’s called funny and smart we do it and there’s outrage,” one fan stated.

However, some Arsenal fans were not too keen on being associated with the actions, given that the City team were nowhere to be seen.

“Embarrassing really & even more so considering their team wasn’t even there,” one Arsenal fan replied.

Some also questioned whether these tactics would have been effective even if the City squad were staying at the hotel.

“I have never seen the team that had fireworks let off outside their hotel actually lose the match the next day. Pointless,” one fan highlighted.

Whilst this attempt to rustle Man City did not go as planned, Arsenal fans will still be hoping that their bitter rivals can pull off a shock result to hand Arteta’s side a major advantage in the title race.
