Meghan Markle 'demands the microphone' in new video but fans 'captivated' by her voice

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have just finished up their ‘unofficial royal tour’ of Nigeria, with the Duchess making many speeches to the community along the way. One video in particular is doing the rounds on social media, where fans are ‘captivated’ by her voice.

The couple began their tour of the West African country last Friday, shortly after Prince Harry made his trip to the UK, for the 10th Anniversary of the Invictus Games. The Duke traveled to his hometown without Meghan Markle by his side, as fans believed he’d be setting up a meeting with his father, King Charles. Days before though, it was revealed this wouldn’t be possible due to the monarch’s ‘full program’.

During one public engagement in Nigeria, the mom of two can be seen putting her hand out and asking for the microphone twice from the host. Despite asking, the Duchess begins her speech with: “I wasn’t planning on speaking.”

“I’m very grateful and very humble,” Markle said. She then went on to say she “misses her babies,” at the event, which took place on Mother’s Day. Despite suspicions their two children would be joining them, they stayed back at home in LA.

“It feels really appropriate to be in the Motherland,” the former Suits actress continued, before telling the crowd she “couldn’t wait to come back.”

The former TV star announced on her Spotify podcast in October 2022 that she was ‘43% Nigerian,’ which she found out through a DNA test.

As the video of the speech circulated TikTok, fans couldn’t get over the Duchess’ ‘captivating’ voice, and how softly spoken she was.

“She is so well-spoken, gorgeous, graceful,” wrote one.

Another said: “She speaks with power and confidence.”

“This is her captivating voice,” a third wrote.

Others were commenting on how the Duchess ‘grabbed’ the microphone, although many rushed to her defense. “No one can ever make me dislike her,” penned one.

The couple hint at more oversees trips in the future

As the pair head back to their home in LA, they took the time to thank the people of Nigeria for an ‘unforgettable experience.’

“Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex concluded their unforgettable trip to Nigeria with a cultural reception in Lagos and a polo match fundraiser for Nigeria: Unconquered,” the statement on their website, Sussex.com, began.

They then went on to write about their ongoings during the trip, including ‘a beautiful pre-game parade’. The Duke and Duchess called the ‘memorable trip’ the ‘first of many,’ hinting that there will be more to come in the future.

“The Duke and Duchess would like to extend their deepest gratitude to all the event organizers, military officials, and the whole Nigerian community for their tremendous hospitality and the first of many memorable trips,” the statement concluded.
