Former President Donald Trump's Truth Social account went into overdrive with a flurry of posts — as he sat in a Manhattan courtroom watching his lawyers grill witness Michael Cohen.
Minutes after the hearing started, Trump's account rattled off a number of quotes, mostly from his own political allies, condemning the trial for falsifying business records on hush payments as a sham and illegitimate.
Among the quotes was Tom Fitton, the leader of the right-wing group Judicial Watch and the man who, despite not being a lawyer, reportedly advised Trump to illegally retain boxes of classified information which is now the subject of a separate criminal case: "The ‘prosecution’ hasn't presented any evidence of a crime by Trump. Judge Merchan, at the conclusion of the prosecution's case, should follow the law and end the trial with a directed verdict for Trump's acquittal.”

It's unknown if Trump was publishing the posts himself. Use of mobile devices is banned inside the courtroom.
Also among the posts was House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), who traveled to Manhattan Tuesday to give a speech in support of Trump: “Just apply common sense," he was quoted as saying in Trump's post.

"Everyone can see. It is painfully obvious. We are now 6 MONTHS out from Election Day. That's the reason they brought these charges here and across the country...The American people are not going to let this stand. Election day cannot get here soon enough, and we will continue to shine a light on all of this in Congress because we have that constitutional responsibility.”
He also quoted John McLaughlin, an infamous Republican pollster who worked for Trump's campaign: “The Voters are getting it…They don’t like the idea that the Courts are deciding the Presidential Election.”
This week in the Trump trial has seen critical testimony from Michael Cohen, the former president's one-time attorney and fixer, who went to prison for his own role in the scheme and is telling the jury that Trump orchestrated the entire operation to save his campaign.
He is currently under cross-examination from Trump's attorneys.
