Report: Arsenal could sign 'incredible' midfielder who's 'every bit as talented' as Jude Bellingham for £129m

Arsenal are likely to be busy in the summer transfer window as Edu and Mikel Arteta look to make their impressive squad even stronger.

The Gunners remain in the Premier League title picture going into the final day of the season. This is the second consecutive season in which they’ve fought for the trophy.

Considering how average Arsenal were when Arteta took the reins in 2019, this shows how much progress the Gunners have made. However, they can’t rest on their laurels.

Arsenal have been linked with a host of world-class players in recent months, including one who has been deemed one of the best youngsters in the world.

The player in question is Florian Wirtz, who has been sensational for Bayer Leverkusen over the years and helped them win the Bundesliga title this season.

SportBILD recently claimed the Gunners want to sign the 21-year-old attacking midfielder alongside the likes of Manchester City, Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

Now, CaughtOffside has published a new report on Wirtz which includes what kind of money may be needed to persuade Leverkusen to come to the table.

How much money could Arsenal need for Florian Wirtz?

The report claims Leverkusen are not willing to sell Wirtz ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, but offers of €150million (£129million) ‘may change their minds’.

Admittedly, this is a fee that few clubs will be able to spend on one player, but the report notes how Manchester City could reach it if Kevin De Bruyne is sold to a Saudi Arabian club.

Arsenal may well have bigger fish to fry in the summer transfer window, but seeing them linked with a player like Wirtz is completely understandable.

At 21 years of age, he already has 149 Leverkusen outings, 16 Germany caps and a Bundesliga winner’s medal under his belt.

Many have been raving about Wirtz, including Joe Cole, who recently likened him to some of the best young players in the world right now.

“Incredible. I’ve watched him three times this year now and he’s blown me away every time,” former Cole told TNT Sports in May.

“He’s got a South American flair with a German efficiency about him. We’ve all heard of Jude Bellingham, Cole Palmer and Phil Foden, and (Jamal) Musiala.

“This lad will be new to the British viewers. Let me tell you, he is every bit as talented as those players. He could go on to be anything.”
