Pundit says Pep Guardiola did something he's never seen before on the touchline in Man City vs Tottenham

Jason Cundy was left stunned by what he saw from Pep Guardiola after one incident in Manchester City’s away match against Tottenham Hotspur.

In the second half of the game, Spurs defender Cristian Romero dived in on a cross and collided with Ederson with a challenge that looked to have knocked the City goalkeeper unconscious for a short period.

Then on the touchline, the City boss was spotted doing something that one pundit said that he had never seen him doing before.

Speaking in a recent watch-along livestream on the talkSPORT YouTube channel, Cundy had this to say about what he saw Guardiola do on the touchline after Romero’s challenge on Ederson.

He said: “Pep’s not happy. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Pep like this. Look at his eyes. That’s how big the stakes are.”

Ederson is vital for City

This season has seen Ederson start 33 Premier League games for City including tonight’s game in North London.

In his first 32 games of the campaign, the 30-year-old has faced 80 shots on target and made 54 saves, leaving him with a save percentage of 70%.

This highlights just how important City’s first-choice shot-stopper is for the team.

With that in mind, it comes as no surprise to us that Guardiola was not happy with the challenge on Ederson that ultimately forced the Brazilian off the field in what was undoubtedly a vital game for his side.

However, given the seriousness of potential head injuries and concussions, we feel that the City manager was right to not be happy with what he saw on that occasion.

Bearing in mind how there is just one league game left to play, which could see the Blues win a fourth Premier League title if they win it, as well as an FA Cup final the week after, it will be something to keep an eye on if Ederson is medically well enough to feature in these crucial final two games of the season.
