Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) has admitted he came to New York City Monday to break a gag order for former President Donald Trump.
MSNBC Anchor Nicolle Wallace reported Tuberville's public admission, made on the conservative channel Newsmax, as part of her coverage on Trump's ongoing criminal hush money trial and the gag order the former president has been fined for repeatedly violating.
"I guess we love that he just gives it to us, right?" said a laughing Wallace. "Were you trying to go against the gag order and intimidate witnesses because Trump can't? 'Yes, sir.'"
Tuberville spoke to the media outside of the courthouse on Monday, attacking the district attorney and witnesses, and went so far as to question whether the jury was truly American.
"Hopefully, we have more and more senators and congressmen go up and represent him, and go out and overcome this gag order," Tuberville told to Newsmax. "That's why we went up was to go there and speak our peace for President Trump."

Wallace acknowledged Tuberville was not bound by the gag order imposed by Justice Juan Merchan at the behest of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, but condemned the message the Republican senator sent.
"The rule of law is the letter of the law; it's the spirit of the law," Wallace said. "The spirit of the law doesn't say Tommy Tuberville can attack the witness, but that's what the spirit of the law is."
Tuberville is one of several Republicans who has spoken publicly against the trial — in which Trump has pleaded not guilty to charges he falsified business records — and those connected to it.
Earlier Tuesday, CNN host Kaitlan Collins demanded Gov. Doug Burgum (R-ND) answer questions about his attack on Merchan's judge's daughter, specifically if he received orders to do so by Trump.
“No, not whatsoever,” replied Bergum. "I'm here completely as a volunteer.”
Wallace discussed Tuberville's admission with Protect Democracy co-founder and director Ian Bassin, who referred to the Trump allies as the "Keystone Crooks."
He argued they "leave evidence of their crimes on the crime scene as Tuberville alludes to doing there."
