Owners of The Burleigh B&B in Hunstanton thank customers as they close doors after 20 years

A couple have thanked customers as they close the doors to their seaside B&B after two decades.

Ram and Sharon Jennings first opened The Burleigh in Hunstanton in October 2003 after taking it over from the previous owners.

Now, more than 20 years later, the pair have said their final goodbyes and are looking forward to doing “things that normal people take for granted”.

Situated on Cliff Terrace, the building, which has been a guest house for some 50 years, has been sold and will become a residential property.

“They’re a lovely family, amazing actually,” Ram said about the new owners.

“It couldn’t have gone to better people.”

On their Facebook page, the couple has received dozens of messages of support wishing them well for the future.

“We had an amazing customer base, especially our regulars,” he added.

“Before they walked out the door, they’d book for their following visit.”

Although they are sad they will not be seeing their guests, Ram and Sharon are happy that they will no longer have to get up at 5.30am and go to bed at midnight seven days a week.

“I can’t carry on, I’m 67. Age and time takes its toll - it’s a hard business and it’s time to hang my keys up.”

The pair thanked all of their visitors for their loyalty over the years and encouraged them to visit the other businesses in town in order to keep it thriving.
