Downham Town hat-trick hero Fletcher Toll says he promised his parents a goal - but ended up with three - to cap a dream season for the youngster.
Toll plundered his third hat-trick in this season's Norfolk Senior Cup as Downham defeated higher-league Gorleston 4-2 in the final at Carrow Road.
The 20-year-old, who arrived at the Memorial Field from Heacham last November, has scored 39 goals in all competitions this campaign, also bagging trebles against Watton in the semi-final and Wells Town in the second round.
He has now found the back of the net 70 times in two sensational seasons of Thurlow Nunn Football.
Toll said: "My Mum always tells me as soon as I leave the house to get her goal and I manage to come here and get her three so both my dad and her will be very proud, I think.
"I can't even put into words what has just happened. It is an unbelievable experience to play at the stadium and to win the final.
"Never in a million years did I think I'd score three. I thought if I get if I get one that'll be nice, so to get three means the world to me.
"Scoring a hat-trick has made my year and capped off a great season. It is the highlight of my career so far."
Toll revealed after the game that he is grateful for the opportunity Downham gave him to join the club.
"It's just the hard work of the club pushing me as well as the managers and the players giving me the confidence that I can do what I want," said Toll.
"They've backed me and then I try my best to perform. When we got the penalty at the end there was no way I wasn't taking it. I walked straight over to that ball, grabbed it and I knew where I was going to put it."
Toll revealed that the Downham players were determined to make amends after their Thurlow Nunn Challenge Cup defeat to Harlow the previous week.
"We knew coming into this we were we were the underdogs and there was no pressure on us," he said.
"Gorleston had a lot of pressure on them and I thought they played quite well but we weren't good enough last Monday and we wanted to put it right."
The sought-after striker revealed that he is not even thinking about next season as he looks to enjoy the summer break.
"I'm going to chill out a little bit as I've played so many games this season," he said.
"I need to have a few weeks off, chill out and then we'll see what comes pre-season."
