Jamie Carragher pinpoints one moment that cost Arsenal the title, it will 'haunt them'

Jamie Carragher has pointed out the one moment that could have cost Arsenal the Premier League title after Manchester City’s win against Tottenham.

Ange Postecoglou’s side were unable to get something against Pep Guardiola and City as Tottenham were beaten 2-0 at home by the reigning English champions, taking them top of the Premier League standings.

With City hosting West Ham on the final day of the season, it feels inevitable that the Manchester giants will wrap up the title at home with a comfortable win, with Arsenal once again having to settle for second-place.

And Carragher has now highlighted the moment Arsenal lost the title.

Heung-min Son miss for Tottenham the moment Manchester City beat Arsenal to the title

Speaking on the Gary Neville Podcast, Carragher noted that Heung-min Son’s 1v1 miss against Steffan Ortega could go down as the moment Arsenal lost the Premier League title against City.

Had the South Korean scored, there is a good chance Tottenham would have gone on to get something against City last night in north London, yet Son fluffed his lines, with City going on to clinch all three points.

Carragher said: “When I think of me a few years ago as a Liverpool fan and watching Vincent Kompany put that shot in against Leicester, that is that moment now for Arsenal fans.

“That Son chance is something Arsenal fans will remember in five, ten, 15 years time. Even if they win a Premier League title in the next five years, that chance will still haunt them.”

Arsenal have again learned what they must do to compete with Manchester City

Competing with City for the Premier League title is up there with one of the hardest achievements in sport, with the Manchester giants restless in their annual pursuit for the English championship.

Whilst there’s a chance this could all change next season depending of what comes from the upcoming hearing of the 115 Premier League charges, Arsenal again learned this year what it takes to compete with City for the title.

Yet given how young this squad is, the Gunners will again take the right lessons from what has happened this year and will go again next season, where the title could return back to north London.
