Jamie Carragher suggests one Man City player actually did something vs Tottenham just like Vincent Kompany

Jamie Carragher has hinted one Manchester City player produced a moment against Tottenham Hotspur that was similar to the winner from Vincent Kompany against Leicester City in 2019.

The pulsating affair between City and Spurs on Tuesday night was a game that was defined by moments.

Ederson Moraes putting his body on the line to stop Cristian Romero from scoring a tap-in was one that stood out.

Carragher says City star did something against Tottenham like Kompany

Erling Haaland’s opener as well as his pressure penalty was another key moment that defined the contest.

Tottenham goalkeeper Gugliemo Vicario’s save in the first-half to deny Phil Foden’s attempt at goal from close quarters was another massive moment in the game.

But Jamie Carragher suggested the save from Stefan Ortega against Tottenham was as significant as the screamer from Vincent Kompany against Leicester in the 2018/2019 season.

Carragher wrote on X: “That Son chance will become for Arsenal fans what the Kompany goal is for Liverpool fans.”

Apt comparison between the Ortega save and the Kompany goal

In our view, Jamie Carragher has made an apt comparison as there are parallels between the monumental save from Stefan Ortega and the heroic winner from Vincent Kompany five years ago.

Much like when City beat Leicester 1-0 in 2019, the Sky Blues also defeated Tottenham in their second last game of the league season.

As a result, both games needed a Sky Blues player to produce a moment that would put them in pole position to win the title.

Ortega replicated Kompany’s thunderbolt of a strike by producing a miraculous save against one of the best finishers in Premier League history.

Jamie Carragher rightly stated that Arsenal supporters might be scarred by the German’s moment of magic, just like Liverpool fans probably were when Vincent Kompany scored the best goal of his career.
