Liverpool have confirmed that assistant coach Pep Lijnders has been appointed as manager of Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg.
Lijnders has enjoyed two separate spells as Liverpool assistant manager, once initially under Brendan Rodgers and then rejoining under Jurgen Klopp in 2018. Since then, the Dutch coach has played a pivotal role in the Reds' successes behind the scenes, winning the Premier League, FA Cup and UEFA Champions League during his second stint at Anfield.
Along with Klopp, Lijnders is now set to leave Liverpool in the summer, with his next move now being officially confirmed.
He is now set to charge of Austrian Bundesliga side Salzburg ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
Speaking after the appointment, Lijnders said: "I am very proud to become the new head coach of FC Red Bull Salzburg.
"This is a real privilege for me. After PSV Eindhoven, FC Porto and Liverpool FC, I am now moving to another exceptional club with a really good structure and a particular focus on youth development.
"I want to develop a mentality with the team that places a lot of emphasis on attacking style of play and where passion and hunger for success are the basis of everything.
"Together with my assistant coach Vitor Matos and the entire support team, we will do our best to help the club continue to grow in an ever-changing football world.
"My family has visited the city before and was overwhelmed by its beauty and the friendliness of the people. That was the last and important step for me in choosing FC Red Bull Salzburg."
Lijnders will bring fellow ex-Liverpool coach Vitor Matos along with him to Austria, with Matos having previously worked as the Reds' Elite Development Coach.
