The Oregon Ducks will look to finish the regular season strong and defend their home turf this week when they host Washington State in a three-game series in Eugene. Representing what could be the final home games of the season for the Ducks with the conference and NCAA Tournament right around the corner.

The series will be bittersweet for Oregon’s senior class who have spent the past four seasons playing at PK Park, with this week representing them getting closer to that journey coming to ahead. And ahead of their matchups with the Cougars, head coach Mark Wasikowski spoke about the impact his seniors have had and will leave behind.

“Anytime that a senior class is moving on you look at the wall behind the fence and you want to determine what have they accomplished from a performance standpoint,” Wasikowski said. “Obviously they all have college degrees which is great and they’ve all been great guys.”

Along with taking care of business off the field, on the field Wasikowski’s seniors have done the same. Making it to the NCAA Tournament in each of their previous three seasons with the program including a Super Regional appearance just last season. All seasons that have been commemorated in their home stadium and will stand the test of time.

“But when you look at their performance that’s one of the things that we did at PK Park. Is to have it very visible what years the team’s been in the regionals and postseason play because that’s the barometer. I think when this senior class or any class comes back to the field and they look at the wall up there and 2021, 22, 23, and hopefully 24 are all indicated as being regional teams and postseason-type teams,” Wasikowski explained.

Wasikowski believes that the legacy of his senior class will speak for itself when people take a look around PK Park. As they’ll look to continue adding to their accomplishments this year with a strong finish to the regular season and a deep run in the postseason.

“And so a senior that’s played in the program and can say this is my legacy, I think means a lot when they bring their family and friends out for future years and every year they’ve played at this field for this program it’s indicated as a successful postseason team,” Wasikowski said. “I think that says an awful lot for this senior group.”
