Slovak Minister updates on Fico's condition: Serious, surgery underway

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, who was attacked with a firearm today, is in serious condition, according to Erik Tomáš, Slovak Minister of Labor.

According to Tomáš, Fico is currently undergoing surgery and is in serious condition due to bullet wounds.

The minister clarified that the operation would take longer than expected, as the bullet damaged several organs.

Tomáš did not disclose any further information.

Assassination attempt on Robert Fico

Today, on May 15, in the Slovak town of Handlová, a man shot several times at Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico. He was injured.

The head of the Slovak government was immediately taken to the hospital. He was transported by helicopter.

The attacker was immediately detained by law enforcement. He was 71-year-old writer and poet Juraj Cintula.
