Man Utd fans all saying same thing about Kobbie Mainoo after Newcastle win, they noticed the ‘connection’

Manchester United fans have made their feelings clear after watching Kobbie Mainoo’s performance against Newcastle at Old Trafford on Wednesday evening.

Kobbie Mainoo has had a remarkable campaign at Manchester United and the 19-year-old Red Devils midfielder has thrived in the first-team squad.

The England international has become a pivotal midfield figure under manager Erik ten Hag, who has been impressed with Mainoo’s development at Old Trafford.

Mainoo’s breakout season has led to rave reviews on the youth academy product, with the United star also earning his England debut back in March.

The Stockport-born player has started all 23 of his Premier League matches for United and Mainoo has scored three times and registered a single assist.

Mainoo steps up for Man Utd against Newcastle

Kobbie Mainoo showed his quality once again during Manchester United’s last Premier League match at Old Trafford this season.

The Red Devils had lost back-to-back Premier League matches ahead of Eddie Howe’s men visiting the Theatre of Dreams for the United clash.

Mainoo took his place in the starting XI alongside Fiorentina loanee Sofyan Amrabat and made an impact for United in the first half.

The Three Lions and United star opened the scoring at Old Trafford after Amad Diallo’s pass somehow squeezed through the Newcastle backline and found Mainoo.

An unmarked Mainoo was played onside by Kieran Trippier and the United man took one touch to control the ball before unleashing a low shot past Martin Dubravka.

Man Utd fans react to Mainoo vs Newcastle

United fans on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, were quick to praise Mainoo’s overall performance in the Premier League clash.

However, Red Devils supporters were quick to point out the impact that Sofyan Amrabat’s presence had alongside Mainoo.

One fan said it was “incredibly dumb” not to use the midfield partnership more, while others were in awe at the “connection” between Mainoo and Amad Diallo.

An X user posted: “Oh, so the Amrabat-Mainoo-Bruno midfield we were asking to see all season are combining well?”

Someone else commented: “It is so incredibly dumb that we have not been playing Amrabat alongside Mainoo all season.”

“This Amad and Mainoo connection is too smooth,” a third added.

Another tweeted: “That midfield pivot of Mainoo and Amrabat is giving Bruno [Fernandes] more freedom up front to lead the attack. Ten Hag got it late, but I’m sure they will cook from next season.”

“Amrabat in there with Mainoo and all of [a] sudden we don’t get ran through as bad – only took [Erik ten Hag] 36 games to realise,” a fifth wrote.

While a sixth said: “Amrabat has changed [the] Manchester United midfield [with] his athleticism and understanding of control. He plays better next to Mainoo than Casemiro does.”

“Amad and Mainoo combining like they’ve been playing together for years,” somebody else posted.

Another simply stated: “Mainoo and Amad will be a problem in the future. You could see the class.”
