The Chicago Sky’s rookie forward Angel Reese got her first big win of the WNBA regular season, that was before the conclusion of Chicago’s season opener against the Dallas Wings. During the game, superstar rapper Latto was spotted sitting courtside. And when asked why she was attending the WNBA season opener, her answer was simple:
“Angel Reese,” said Latto.

After Chicago and Resse wrapped up their season opener, the former 2023 women’s college basketball champion at LSU took to social media to shout out Latto for the love, support, and for showing up to her first-ever WNBA game.
In terms of the action on the court, Chicago would get off to a hot start, taking a 25-14 lead into the second quarter. But from there, Dallas would come to life, beating Chicago in every quarter that followed, leading to an 87-79 season opener home victory for the Wings. Reese would finish the game with 12 points, seven rebounds, and one assist. Unfortunately, the rookie did struggle to find her shot in her first professional game as she finished the night 5-13 from the field and 2-8 from the free throw line.
Fortunately for Reese and the Sky, they will get their chance at revenge against the Wings in their rematch is scheduled for Saturday night.
Reese scores first WNBA point for Chicago Sky on free throw vs. Dallas Wings
In her first WNBA game Wednesday night, Reese got off to a rocky start for the Sky. But she got on the board late in the first half with her first career point, coming from the free throw line.
Reese went to the charity stripe with 1:27 remaining in the second quarter and drained her first attempt for her first point in the W. It was a bright spot amid a tough start to her career, which also saw two early fouls.
The Sky traded up for the No. 7 pick one day before the WNBA Draft and used that selection to take Reese, who became a national name at LSU and helped the Tigers to a national championship in her first year after transferring from Maryland.
Reese was one of two high-profile draft picks for Chicago last month, along with former SEC foe Kamilla Cardoso out of South Carolina, who went No. 3 overall. However, a shoulder injury will postpone Cardoso’s WNBA debut for at least 4-6 weeks, meaning Reese will have to wait to play alongside her new frontcourt mate.
