Amad Diallo has made Antony look ridiculously poor after scoring first Premier League goal for Man Utd

On Wednesday night, Manchester United beat Newcastle 3-2 at Old Trafford with Amad Diallo the shining light.

Wednesday saw Manchester United return to winning ways in a 3-2 win over Newcastle in which the performance was as pleasing as the result.

Erik ten Hag seems to have found a decent formula and solved the problem which has seen United struggle over recent weeks and months.

A solid performance with some encouraging signs finally being shown by this team, most of which came by way of Amad Diallo‘s introduction to the first team.

Now, he’s made Ten Hag’s decision to start Antony for months on end look ridiculous.

How Amad Diallo has made Antony look terrible

Starting for only the second time this season, Amad was once more probably the best United player on the pitch and he got his rewards too.

Amad assisted Kobbie Mainoo for the opening goal and also made it 2-1 to United with his second-half finish.

This brought his Premier League tally for the season to a goal and an assist in just his second start having played 313 total minutes.

By comparison, Antony has the same output, despite starting 15 games and playing 1,323 minutes – a difference of 1,010 minutes.

This not only makes Antony look shockingly bad but also begs the question of how on earth Ten Hag can justify not picking Amad for months.

Amad must be Manchester United’s right-winger

We’ve seen enough in two appearances to know that Amad is better than Antony and has a long-term future in the red of United.

So going forward, Ten Hag mustn’t treat him like a prospect, but rather the star that he is.

Amad has been so impressive, even outside of just his goal contributions, he was a nightmare for the defenders and beat his man regularly.

Atop this, he was playing from the same hymn sheet as Bruno Fernandes, Alejandro Garnacho and others, which is something Antony regularly does.

He should be the first choice going forward and absolutely has to start at Wembley a week on Saturday.
