'What a player'... Pundit says unstoppable star is 'epitome' of a Manchester United footballer

Manchester United have endured a really tough season, which has not gone at all as expected.

That’s why you really have to appreciate the good times. And after some of the crushing lows this season, we will take signing off at Old Trafford with a 3-2 win over Newcastle.

This was just Manchester United’s second win in 10 league matches. It is a poor run, but just perhaps, we can build a tiny bit of momentum before the FA Cup Final.

It was Kobbie Mainoo who got the scoring underway, with a cool low finish after Amad found him unmarked near the penalty spot.

Kobbie Mainoo’s super season

Kobbie Mainoo made hisManchester United debut last year, but it has been 2023/24 when he has really stepped up as a first team regular.

His goal was his fourth goal of the season and third in the Premier League, following strikes against Wolves and Liverpool.

Mainoo was excellent all game long, defying suggestions he might have needed a rest.

The teenager’s performance was praised on MUTV, with former defender David May speaking glowingly about his contribution.

He said: “Kobbie Mainoo, what a player. I tell you what. He is the absolute epitome of a Manchester United player, absolutely brilliant.”

He added: “He’s a massive, massive, integral part of his team now, unbelievable.”

Kobbie Mainoo has had an unstoppable rise this season, establishing himself as a Manchester United regular and making his England debut.

The teenager has now made 30 appearances this season, 27 of which have been starts, all the more impressive considering he did not feature until November due to a pre-season injury.

Just two years ago, Mainoo won the FA Youth Cup with Manchester United’s under-18s, along with Alejandro Garnacho.

This past year, the under-18s have won three trophies, offering hope that more youngsters may follow him into the first team.
