'Concerning': Darren Fletcher shares what really worries him about Nottingham Forest

TNT Sports commentator Darren Fletcher has explained what concerns him about Nottingham Forest.

The Reds have limped towards the line this season and should now remain in the Premier League.

Only a 12-goal swing between Forest and Luton on the last day would see the Reds relegated from here.

Forest have decisions to make on a number of players in the summer and the challenge is to make sure they kick on next season.

Fletcher has openly said that he’s been really disappointed with one element of this season and has urged Forest to improve.

Darren Fletcher shares what concerns him about Nottingham Forest

This season has been a bit of a disaster from a Forest perspective.

A turbulent campaign has seen the club concede the most goals from set pieces in the division, endure a four-point deduction and also sacked a manager worshipped by the fans.

However, it’s something to do with the competitive nature of the league that has left Fletcher concerned for next season.

He told the Forest Focus podcast: “It was relief mixed with a little bit of disappointment as I was hoping they’d kick on a little bit and they just haven’t.

“I’m a little bit disappointed that we’re here again in what I think is a really weak Premier League in terms of the bottom three so the fact that Forest are the nearest team to those three is concerning.

“It outlines the kind of work that needs to be done in the summer.”

Forest have to be better next season

It’s hard to argue with Fletcher considering how bad the league has been this year.

However, clubs like Brighton finished 17th two years running when they first won promotion and it’s not the end of the world.

The challenge is to improve and hopefully, Forest can do that next season.

If Nuno Espirito Santo does leave the club it would represent a bit of a blow considering he probably deserves a pre-season and the chance.

However, Evangelos Marinakis might have a little more ambition in mind and that could lead him to another option as head coach.

The Premier League will be a stronger division during 2024/25 and ultimately Forest can’t afford to be as inconsistent next season.
