West Norfolk youngsters put in some strong performances at latest QuadKids event in Norwich

The second of the Athletics Norfolk quad kids series took place concurrently with the County Championships.

With the U13s having other events on the day, it was only for the U11 athletes this time.

James Watts improved on his silver medal from the first meeting with a gold out of a big field of 20 athletes and his best set of results yet, with a huge 73 points in the 600m in 1.57s.

Liam Allitt was seventh and again his strongest points came in the 600m with 2.16. He was also joint-first in the standing LJ with 1.69m.

The u11 girls were out in force with Poppy-Lee Roylance, Lauren Lawrence, Sofia Gilboy and Jess Watts all competing.

With many of the above only aged eight, they held their own in another large field of nearly 30 athletes.

Jess Watts was 18th with consistent scores in the four events, her best also in the 600m with 2.33.

Roylance had a fantastic LJ with 1.69m and a fast 12.9s sprint for equal 18th with Jess.

Gilboy's best points came in her sprint with 13.2 and she continues to jump and throw strongly with 13.45 in the howler for 21st overall.

Lawrence, a seasoned endurance runner, was 6th in the 600m with 2.19 and leapt to 1.40m in the LJ and finished 24th.

The next quad kids is on June 9, at Yarmouth, for both U13 and U11 athletes.
