Add a touch of Bridgerton to your home

Interior design expert Ryan McDonough has shared seven ways you can use Bridgerton to inspire your own decor, without making your home look old-fashioned.

1. Use wallpaper

One great way to bring that Regency look into your house is with wallpaper. Create a statement by putting it on a single accent wall, adding a touch of Bridgerton without being too much.

McDonough recommends bold floral patterns reminiscent of blooming gardens or elegant stripes in a color scheme that complements your existing furniture.

If you’re renting your home, opt for removable wallpaper, so you can still decorate your walls without upsetting your landlord.

2. Get a vintage mirror

Buying an old vintage mirror is a quick and easy way to get that old English look without breaking the bank.

A simple gold-painted frame will bring that Regency grandeur, reflecting the elegance and sophistication of the period.

Mirrors make your space feel bigger too, creating an illusion that helps any bedroom or living room appear larger than it is.

3. Buy some art

In the series, Lady Bridgerton’s walls are adorned with artwork, from huge grand paintings to smaller gallery walls.

Hunt for some vintage prints, botanical illustrations, or even sheet music for a beautiful and budget-friendly display.

Personal and family photos will also work well, and you can frame them all and cover your walls with Regency-style art.

4. Get thrifty

When looking for vintage decor charity shops are a must, which are treasure troves full of old pre-loved stuff.

From chairs to tables, lamps to mirrors, you’ll find all sorts that will add a Bridgerton touch to your modern home.

The interior designer recommends looking for pieces with clean lines and graceful curves, and don’t be scared to upcycle yourself.

5. Create dramatic lighting

Bridgerton houses are always complete with dramatic chandeliers, so lighting is a great way to bring the style into your own home.

If you can’t find one you like, you could repurpose an old lampshade yourself with crystals or beads for a touch of sparkle.

Strategically placing candles around your home will add a Regency touch too, creating a warm glow throughout the house.

6. Use fabrics

The series is full of wonderful fabrics, from bright patterned bedspreads to vibrant velvet chairs and of course, the brilliant dresses.

Look for discounted fabrics, like luxurious velvets and satins, at your local fabric store and reupholster your own furniture if you’re feeling crafty.

Or, simply buying extravagant cushions, throws or curtains will add a touch of drama to your home without too much effort.

7. Add a Touch of Nature

Finally, you may have noticed the Bridgerton houses are always full of lush greenery, which is an easy thing to implement in your own home.

Adding houseplants like ferns or trailing vines will instantly make your home look more elegant. Reeds or pampas grass are great options too.

Plus, you could add some flowers reminiscent of the incredible Bridgerton gardens, which are covered in beautiful bright blooms.
