"My goodness"... Fernandes and Diallo hail Man Utd 'warrior' after Newcastle clash, Amad was simply blown away

Manchester United beat Newcastle United in the Premier League, with Erik ten Hag’s men thankfully back to winning ways.

After what was a drab showing against Arsenal the weekend prior, the Red Devils fought back hard against Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United side – and were rewarded with a 3-1 victory.

Goals from academy graduate Kobbie Mainoo, Amad Diallo and a much-needed Rasmus Hojlund strike were enough to secure victory on the night, although they once again made it hard for themselves in the latter stages.

There were a few standout performers on the night, but arguably none better than Sofyan Amrabat.

Sofyan Amrabat fantastic against Newcastle United

After a decent performance against Arsenal at the weekend, Amrabat once again proved many of his doubters wrong against Newcastle.

He was arguably Manchester United’s best player on the pitch. Amrabat did it all in that defensive midfield role, tackling, intercepting and all-round bossing the centre of the park.

The last-ditch tackle against Alexander Isak epitomised the warrior-like display. That goal would have turned the tide of the fixture, but Amrabat’s heroic efforts ensured the United victory in the end. It didn’t go unnoticed by his teammates.

Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo praise Sofyan Amrabat

The Moroccan took to Instagram after the fixture to send the following message to Manchester United fans. It read: ‘Proud to get the win in our last home game. Huge shoutout to the fans for their incredible support this season 🙏🔴 Two games to go.’

Manchester United first-team squad teammates Amad Diallo and club captain Bruno Fernandes hailed the midfielder for his efforts. Amad was blown away, with his message translating to ‘My goodness brother.’

His fine performances ultimately beg the question. Is this his last appearance at Old Trafford? His loan deal is active for two more games, and it hasn’t looked likely thus fair the Red Devils were set to extend.

However, after two strong fightback performances, could things have changed in the mind of Ten Hag? Time will tell.
