'Got to do something': Pundit says there's one issue Pep Guardiola needs to address now

Pundit Steve Nicol has highlighted one thing Pep Guardiola needs to work on to improve the Manchester City team.

The Citizens are just two victories away from ending their latest season with another Premier League and FA Cup added to their trophy cabinet.

On the final day of the Premier League season this Sunday, City will be taking on West Ham United at the Etihad Stadium as they look to become their first side to win a fourth title in a row.

After that, the Blues will face off against Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium as they did last season.

Even though City are on the cusp of winning two more trophies, one pundit has pinpointed an area where Guardiola could improve his side to make them an even more formidable outfit on the pitch.

Speaking in a recent video shared on the ESPN FC YouTube channel, Nicol had this to say when asked if City have any weaknesses and what Guardiola can look to improve in his team.

He said: “I think the only weakness they’ve had this year has been [that] teams have been able to score against them too easily and have created more chances than normal.

“So I think they’ve got to do something defensively to get better but that would be it.”

City have been more open defensively this season

With 37 Premier League games played this season, City conceded 33 goals, five more than the Arsenal have.

If the Blues keep a clean sheet against West Ham on Sunday, they’ll have equalled the number of league goals they conceded last season.

Having faced 104 shots on target in this current campaign, City only had 89 shots on target against them throughout the previous league season.

This backs up Nicol’s point about them being easier to attack this time around than they were last term.
