'Really sore': Kevin De Bruyne now shares injury update after suffering painful knock against Tottenham

Kevin De Bruyne has provided an update about the ankle injury he suffered when Manchester City beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 on Tuesday.

Kevin De Bruyne’s injury seemed serious at the time as he was screaming in anguish after he was hacked down from the back by Pape Sarr.

City’s number 17 was eventually taken off in the 69 minute and the reason was presumably precautionary from Pep Guardiola.

Kevin De Bruyne shares how serious his latest injury is

Speaking to Sky Sports, Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne revealed the full extent of his injury.

De Bruyne said: “I think I’m alright.”

“It’s a bit sore but it’s just the place, the Achilles is really sore at the moment and it felt like it was a knife at the moment from the impact but it’s an impact so it’s not bad. It’ll be alright.”

The Belgian skipper would have had his worst nightmare if he had suffered another significant injury during a season where he has spent most of his time on the treatment table.

Fortunately for De Bruyne, he has returned from his long-term hamstring injury and aside from a few knocks, he has looked fully fit.

During Manchester City’s 2-0 win against Tottenham, Jamie Carragher claimed he is the best passer in Premier League history after his assist for Erling Haaland’s opener.

The Manchester City midfielder must be relieved

Kevin De Bruyne must be understandably relieved that his injury is far from serious, as he revealed.

The former VFL Wolfsburg attacker would have always been looking forward to playing against West Ham United and the FA Cup final against Manchester United.

Additionally, Euro 2024 begins next month and De Bruyne’s chances of travelling to Germany do not seem at risk after his revelation.

The tournament could potentially be the ex-Chelsea technician’s last at his very best in a Belgium shirt.

It would not be a surprise if De Bruyne decides to retire from international duty after the Euros to manage his body as he ages.

As a result, another injury setback would have held Kevin De Bruyne back for both club and country.
