Ukrainian forces counterattacked the Russian troops near Vovchansk, Kharkiv region, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Since the beginning of the day, the Russian military has attacked in the direction of the village of Starytsia in the Kharkiv sector.

Russian troops launched missile strikes on Kharkiv and Stara Vodolaha. They also attacked the settlements of Vilcha, Vovchansk, and Starytsia from the aircraft.
"In turn, Ukrainian soldiers conducted counterattacks near the city of Vovchansk," the statement said.
Situation in Kharkiv region
On May 10, Russian troops launched an offensive in the north of the Kharkiv region, namely near the city of Vovchansk and neighboring settlements. Yesterday, the Ministry of Defense confirmed that small infantry groups managed to enter Vovchansk and tried to gain a foothold. The Ukrainian Armed Forces say they thwarted the enemy's plans.
The Ukrainian military notes that Russia is unlikely to have enough forces for a full-scale offensive on Kharkiv. The purpose of the escalation in the border areas is to stretch Ukrainian forces within the front.
Part of the Kharkiv region, including Vovchansk, was occupied by Russian forces at the beginning of the full-scale invasion. The territories were liberated in the fall of 2022.
