Simon Jordan gives 'unlikely' verdict when asked who wins promotion as Leeds face Norwich

Leeds United will be fighting for promotion to the Premier League tonight when they take on Norwich City at Elland Road and Simon Jordan has delivered his verdict on whether Leeds will win the play-offs.

The Whites take on Norwich City in the second leg of the Championship play-off semi-finals, after a 0-0 draw in the first leg at Carrow Road with Leeds favourites to beat Norwich and reach the final on May 26.

The Yorkshire outfit will have gathered some momentum from down in East Anglia on Sunday, ending a dismal run of form that saw them go into the play-offs with one clean sheet in eight, two straight losses.

Leeds are expected to win and Danny Mills said as much on Thursday morning, predicting a Leeds win and to reach the final – and now, outspoken pundit Simon Jordan has given his verdict on promotion.

A win tonight will see Leeds take on either Southampton or West Brom in the final with both sides also drawing in the first leg. Jordan said he is a “great admirer” of Leeds, and gave his verdict on promotion.

Here is what he told TalkSPORT (Thursday, 11.55AM) about Leeds’ chances of promotion:

Jordan doesn’t think Leeds will win promotion this season

Leeds will be without Patrick Bamford on Thursday evening with the striker still struggling to overcome the knock he suffered against Middlesbrough, since missing the last three Championship matches.

David Wagner also has injury issues, with the Norwich manager confirming that Ashley Barnes is likely to be missing on Thursday night. Jordan expects Leeds to beat Norwich, but struggle in the play-off final.

“I’ve always said Leeds will win. It will be a Leeds and Southampton final, and then Southampton will win. I am a great admirer of Leeds and I will be delighted in the unlikely event they get to the Premier League.”

David Wagner says why Leeds don’t have an advantage tonight

Looking at tonight’s game, The Whites seem to have the advantage given we stopped Norwich from winning at home. In what is now a one-game shootout, the Yorkshire club are playing at Elland Road.

But Norwich boss Wagner doesn’t think playing at home is all that an advantage going into tonight’s clash, perhaps an attempt to instill a few mind games ahead of a trip to Yorkshire this evening.

With Bamford unavailable, Leeds do have Connor Roberts and Dan James fit and there will be a few decisions to make before Farke announces his line-up to take on The Canaries in the Yorkshire side.
