On Thursday, Nebraska begins its final series of the regular season at Michigan State, where they’ll look to solidify their seeding for the upcoming NCAA Tournament.

The Cornhuskers have enjoyed a strong season in the Big Ten and were listed as a two-seed in the latest NCAA Tournament projections from On3’s Jonathan Wagner earlier this week. To stay in two-seed territory, a series victory over MSU would certainly help, and head coach Will Bolt has no doubt his guys will be locked in for their final stand in the regular season.

Ahead of the trip to East Lansing, Bolt met with media, where he was asked how he keeps his guys focused on the task at hand as the postseason draws nearer. He simply answered that with this particular team, he’s had no issue at all maintaining focus.

“Yeah, I don’t. It kind of sounds boring, but it’s kind of been the same mood we’ve had all year,” Bolt said. “It’s just day to day, you just come practice and do your thing. And then, we’ll go practice tonight and show up and play a baseball game. There’s not a whole lot of up and downs with this group.”

It’s an even-keeled squad in that Nebraska dugout, which is a main reason why the ‘Huskers have performed so consistently throughout the season. As the most important games of the season get underway, Will Bolt knows he can rely on his guys not to get too emotional and stay the course throughout whatever chaos comes their way.

This upcoming series against Michigan State starts on Thursday late afternoon and goes for three games through Saturday, when the typical series goes from Friday-Sunday. The matchup also comes after Nebraska’s most recent series finished last Sunday. However, the Cornhuskers didn’t have to play a midweek game for the first time since March, so they ought to be well rested for their final regular season contests.

On the year so far, Nebraska has a 32-18 record with a 14-7 mark in conference play — good for second in the Big Ten, one game behind Illinois in first place, who they could pass up to win the league depending on results from this weekend. That would likely require a sweep of the Spartans, though.

Thus far, Nebraska has only lost one series this season and is 6-1 in Big Ten series with the lone loss coming to Rutgers, who escaped with two out of three in Piscataway despite the Cornhuskers outscoring the Scarlet Knights 26-14 overall that weekend.
