'Really good': Son Heung-min left seriously impressed by one Man City player against Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur captain Son Heung-min praised one Manchester City player after his side’s 2-0 defeat on Tuesday.

Ahead of the contest, it would have been fair to have Son down as a player who could hurt Manchester City’s title prospects.

The 31-year-old has had an impressive season, with 17 goals and nine assists to his name in the Premier League.

Son hails one Man City player after Tottenham defeat

In addition, the former Hamburg forward has often given City a nightmare in previous games due to his threat on the break, lethal finishing and brilliant movement.

But as Son Heung-min’s effort on goal was saved by Manchester City number two Stefan Ortega, the Spurs talisman lauded him.

The Tottenham goalscorer told The Standard: “I’m also human.”

“The ‘keeper made a really good decision and made himself really big.”

“But I take the responsibility not to score that big chance for the team because the team was working really hard and trying to get a good result.”

Stefan Ortega gave a masterclass on how to approach one-on-one situations

Fair play to Son Heung-min for praising Stefan Ortega, as his gilt-edged one-on-one miss against City must still be playing on his mind.

In our view, Ortega provided a lesson to several goalkeepers around the world on how to tackle such one-on-one situations.

Often, a number of goalkeepers rush their decision to step forward from their starting position.

The striker is afforded plenty of room to pick his spot and his shot leads to a goal.

But when Stefan Ortega saw Son Heung-min running through on goal, he initially took a few steps forward from his starting position.

The £55,000-a-week man did not commit to either side of the goal and stayed central, making the angle acute for Son.

Ortega also managed to stay quite close to the floor, making it easy for him to dive and stop the ball from flying past him into the back of the net.

Son could have gone for an easier near-post finish but ultimately, Ortega’s technique in the lead-up to his strike was flawless.
