Arteta tipped to put 'top-quality' Unai Emery signing on Arsenal summer 'transfer list'

Adrian Clarke has predicted Mikel Arteta to sell a ‘top-quality’ Arsenal player this summer when the transfer window opens.

The north London giants are expected to see a number of big departures in the off-season, with Mohamed Elneny and Cedric Soares already reportedly set to leave when their contracts expire this summer.

With Gabriel Jesus and Thomas Partey also linked with moves away, the upcoming summer window could see Arsenal recoup quite a bit of cash from player sales, with big signings expected from Arteta.

And former Arsenal star Clarke thinks one name will certainly be up for sale.

Kieran Tierney tipped to be transfer-listed by Arsenal this summer

Speaking on Off The Ball, the pundit strongly suggested that Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney will be transfer-listed this summer, with the Scottish international currently out on loan at Real Sociedad.

Signed in 2019 by Unai Emery, Tierney’s standing in the Arsenal pecking order has fallen year upon year in north London, and a permanent move this summer could be ideal for all parties involved with a sale.

Clarke said about the fullback: “I like Kieran Tierney, I’ve always liked him, but I don’t think there is a future there now for him because Mikel Arteta likes that inverted full-back, and I don’t think that suits Tierney.

“There are a number of players who are all ahead of Kieran Tierney, and I could see him on the transfer list this summer. He’ll be fine wherever he goes, because he’s a top-quality player.”

Tierney leaving would be best for everyone this summer

Tierney remains a fan favourite at the Emirates Stadium despite spending the year away from north London and playing a bit-part role last season, yet everyone knows a departure this summer is for the best.

The former Celtic star is a fantastic player on his day and is more than good enough to play for some of Europe’s biggest teams when fit and firing, something Arsenal will take into account this summer.

With Tierney impressing at Sociedad, there’s a real chance that the defender will be picked up by a top side in the coming months, and a good showing at the Euros with Scotland could add a few more million to Arsenal’s demands.
