‘The game changes’: Simon Jordan drops big Man City claim regarding Pep Guardiola

Simon Jordan has made a big claim regarding Manchester City’s future without Pep Guardiola.

The Manchester club are on the verge of potentially winning a fourth Premier League title in a row and sixth under Guardiola since his arrival in 2016.

In terms of the 53-year-old’s future at the Etihad Stadium, his current contract at the club is set to expire in the summer 2025, meaning that unless he signs another extension, next season could be his last in charge of the Blues.

With that in mind, one pundit has shared a claim on what could happen at City once their prolific manager decides to walk away from the club.

Speaking in a recent edition of Three Up Front alongside Graeme Souness and Troy Deeney, Jordan had this to say on the matter.

He said: “I think the moment Guardiola goes out the door the game changes again. Guardiola has changed the rules of engagement, hasn’t he?

“Not even your lot [Liverpool] from the ’70s won four titles in a row.

“I would say that Man City’s dominance would be arrested the moment Guardiola goes. Because he was such a game-changer.

“[Roberto] Mancini was a good manager, [Manuel] Pellegrini was a good manager. These guys didn’t own the Premier League like this fella does.”

Guardiola’s exit will have a big impact on City

During his time at City, Guardiola has overlooked 470 matches across all competitions, winning 348, drawing 57 and losing 65.

In terms of the silverware he’s guided his side to during his time at the club, City have won five Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four League Cups, and one Champions League as well as the UEFA SuperCup and FIFA Club World Cup.

Taking into account how how successful the Spaniard has been and how dominant his side have been in the Premier League, it’s easy to see why Jordan thinks this could change when Guardiola decides to call it a day at City.

While Guardiola’s exit will be the last thing any City fan will want to think about, we feel that the club will have to make sure that plans are in place regarding who has the big task of replacing the current manager and keep the team competitive in all competitions.
