Another potential departure? Wolves outcast looks set to earn a permanent move away from Molineux this summer

One Wolves outcast looks set to leave the club on a permanent basis, with his buyout clause likely to be triggered by an interested party.

Wolves’ first-team squad looks set to have a shake-up this summer. After Gary O’Neil comfortably guided the club to Premier League safety, he now has his first summer where he can try and shape his ideal side.

Multiple players have stood out throughout the campaign including Matheus Cunha and Joao Gomes.

On top of this, away from the club, many of Wolves’ loanees have enjoyed a successful season.

One such player is Daniel Podence who now looks set to have earned a permanent move away from the Molineux.

Podence has spent the entire campaign away from Wolves on loan to Greek side Olympiacos. Despite being the top scorer for the Old Gold last year, the winger found himself sent out to the Greek side.

However, by the Mediterranean, his form has not dwindled. Podene has been vital in their Europa Conference League campaign as they prepare for the final.

It seemed as if Podence could be on his way back to Molineux on Wednesday after the 28-year-old appeared emotional after his final home game at the club.

However, according to journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos, Podence will still sign for Olympiacos in the summer.

The Greek side has the option to buy the winger at the end of his loan. Chorianopoulos believes that Olympiacos want to acquire Podence for less than his €6 million buy-out clause. However, if Wolves don’t accept the lower offer, they will just pay €6 million.

More potential cash on the way for Wolves’ summer transfer window

While it would have been nice for Podence to return to the squad next season, it was always unlikely. The winger is clearly happy at Greece and if he wants to stay, Wolves shouldn’t stand in his way if the money is there.

In return, the extra cash would help O’Neil’s side this summer. The Wolves manager has already confirmed that they will likely have to sell a big star in the window.

However, extra cash such as from Podence’s potential departure will only help the club operate more freely in the market.

Fabio Silva is also rumoured to leave Wolves for £20 million. On top of this, Goncalo Guedes was linked with a permanent move to Villarreal.

By adding up all the potential fees for players who don’t get into the Wolves squad anymore, the club could generate a significant amount of money this summer.
