Ukrainian forces have halted the active advancement of Russian invaders across the territory of the Kharkiv region. In some directions, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have regained a more advantageous position, but stabilizing the front line has not yet been achieved, according to the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov.

According to him, the enemy is attempting to achieve success by advancing towards Lyptsi and is not giving up on capturing Vovchansk.

"Our soldiers, although it's too early to say that they have stabilized the front line, have halted the active advancement of the enemy across the territory of the Kharkiv region. In some directions, our soldiers have managed to regain a more advantageous position," Syniehubov said.

He also added that the Russian troops are forced to deploy reserves to prevent their offensive potential from waning in the Kharkiv direction.

"Nevertheless, our task is still to stabilize the front line," noted the head of the regional administration.

Situation in the Kharkiv region

At the beginning of May, Russian forces launched an offensive in the Kharkiv region. They are attempting to break through the Ukrainian Armed Forces' defenses.

In the first days of the offensive, the Russian troops managed to occupy several settlements along the front line.

Furthermore, they are trying to capture the city of Vovchansk. Active combat operations are also ongoing in the vicinity of the settlement of Lyptsi.

According to the latest data from the General Staff, Ukrainian forces have launched a counterattack against the Russian troops in the area of Vovchansk. Active fighting is ongoing there around the clock.
