King Charles 'won't roll red carpet out' for Prince Harry as he prioritises working royals

King Charles "won't roll the red carpet out" for Prince Harry as he prioritises working royals, a royal commentator has claimed.

A friend of Princess Kate and Prince William has opened up about the Duke of Sussex's strained relationship with his family.

They told The Daily Beast: "William wouldn’t dream of telling his father what he can or can’t do in relation to his other son.

"But what is true is that Charles’s absolute priority is the unity of the monarchy, and given the extent of William’s animosity to Harry, Charles can hardly roll out the red carpet and invite Harry and the kids to stay at Balmoral for the summer holidays—however much he would like to."

Friends of King Charles and Queen Camilla have implied the monarch was hurt by Harry’s attacks on Camilla in his memoir, Spare, and that this is a barrier to their reconciliation.

Harry last saw his father when he flew to the UK in February after King Charles revealed he had been diagnosed with cancer.

Prince Harry spent under an hour with his father and was not invited to stay the night at his country home, Sandringham.

The issue was brought into focus again last week when Harry visited London and issued a statement suggesting his father had declined to meet with him.

Harry was in London for a church service celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games.

Royal sources briefed The Times that Charles had not received a request to meet Harry and had offered him a royal residence in which to stay, but that Harry opted to stay in a hotel.

Harry’s team said in response they did not believe Harry’s request to meet his father would have been missed.

Queen Camilla's close friend Petronella Wyatt told The Telegraph that William and King Charles’s treatment of Harry was "beginning to look inhuman".
