‘We are not thinking’: After Angel Di Maria, Inter Miami manager rules out another UCL winner he won’t be signing

Tata Martino has again ruled out the chances of Inter Miami signing a UEFA Champions League winner having already shut down rumors surrounding Angel Di Maria.

The Argentine international has in recent days been strongly tipped with a move to Florida, with Di Maria set to leave Benfica at the end of his contract and become a free-agent this summer.

However, after links to Inter Miami, Martino on Saturday jumped at the chance to clarify rumors surrounding the Herons and Di Maria, with the MLS boss pouring cold water over a potential deal.

And Martino has now had to repeat this trick with another Champions League winner.

Inter Miami unlikely to move for Costa Rica legend Keylor Navas

Speaking to the Miami Herald, Martino categorically ruled out a summer move for PSG goalkeeper Keylor Navas, who like Di Maria is also set to become a free-agent at the end of this season.

A three-time Champions League winner, Navas has made over 100 appearances for both PSG and Real Madrid in his career, yet despite links to Florida, the Costa Rica international will not be heading to inter Miami.

Martino said: “Keylor Navas is an elite goalkeeper with a stellar career, and I want to clarify, because various names have been coming up in the past week, but at this time we are not thinking about that, as there are still two months until the next transfer window opens.

“Also, we are not thinking of replacing our keeper; we have a great keeper and a great captain. Unless [Callender] were to get an offer to go overseas that would be better for his future, he would have to evaluate that, but that is not the case so far. We are not looking for a new keeper.”

Navas should be considered despite Drake Callender’s form

Although Drake Callender’s form has picked up in recent weeks, a move for Navas should be considered by Inter Miami with the 37-year-old departing PSG in the coming weeks.

The former Madrid star is one of the best and most underrated goalkeepers in the last 15 years having been the no. 1 for both the French giants and Los Blancos, winning three European titles in the process.

And for Inter Miami, Navas would be a significant improvement on Callender, who could be tempted by a move to Europe if an offer was made for the USA international this summer.
