Rangers line up Premier League payday as Ibrox side brace for slice of whopping £265m prize

When Glen Kamara left Rangers last summer, there was a feeling that the Leeds United midfielder probably stayed a season too long.

And he wasn’t the only one.

Only this week has Philippe Clement taken aim at Ross Wilson’s disastrous ‘player contract model’ which has saw Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent and Filip Helander walk out the door at Ibrox for nothing.

Six more are set to follow them in the coming weeks.

But where Glen Kamara differs from the rest is that Rangers recouped a rather impressive £5m for the £50k midfielder.

And with Leeds United on the precipice of Premier League promotion, the Gers could be in for another timely Glen Kamara cash boost just as the transfer window prepares to open.

Kamara and Leeds set for Wembley

In his first season with the club, Finnish international midfielder Glen Kamara has lined up a date with Leeds United destiny at Wembley.

Hammering Norwich City 4-0 to send an emphatic message to both Southampton and West Brom, the two other Championship playoff semi-finalists know they’ll be in a game against Kamara’s team.

Kamara played the full 90 minutes of the match for the Daniel Farke’s side, this the ex-Dundee star’s 39th appearance and 35th start of the Championship season.

Should Southampton overcome WBA, with the tie at St Mary’s neatly poised following a 0-0 draw at the Hawthorns, then Kamara will also come up against Ibrox amigo Joe Aribo at England’s national stadium

With Premier League promotion the prize, it’s not lost on anyone that the ‘most expensive game in football’ also comes with a cash injection reportedly worth anywhere up to a quite monumental £265m.

Rangers are looking for their (albeit paltry in comparison) slice of the pie too, with the club inserting a promotion clause into the deal which brought Kamara to Elland Road.

Specifically, according to leading Rangers insider Four Lads Had a Dream, the club is looking at banking a cool £500k should Glen and his teammates to the business this weekend.

Rangers need all the transfer help they can get

With money tight at Rangers and ‘quite a rebuild’ on the horizon, half a million quid is not to be sniffed at.

Rangers face a substantial turnover of players this summer and all attentions are on Philippe Clement, Nils Koppen and the Ibrox board.

The club quite simply has to get its recruitment spot on with minimal errors this summer following Michael Beale’s disastrous shopping spree at the beginning of this campaign.

As for Glen Kamara, at his midfield best the ex-Arsenal academy graduate always seemed destined for the Premier League.

An intelligent, comfortable midfield player who can use his body and his positioning to find space in the middle of the park, there was moment when the ex-Dundee star really was our prime asset.

We wish him all the best as he vies to get his shot at the English top flight and whilst Joe Aribo also remains in the hunt, that £500k bonus will have everyone at Ibrox Marching on Together.
