Ederson and Kevin De Bruyne latest in Man City injury update ahead of final Premier League match vs West Ham

Manchester City have two injury concerns ahead of the final game of the Premier League season in Ederson and Kevin De Bruyne.

Manchester City take on West Ham United on Sunday knowing that a victory will ensure they clinch the Premier League title for an unprecedented fourth year in a row.

Anything less than a victory would be opening the door for Arsenal to sneak in and claim the trophy for the first time since 2004.

A City draw and Arsenal win would even see the Gunners take the crown on goal difference, a heartbreaking outcome the Blues have famously been on the right side of in the past.

Pep Guardiola has two injury worries to contend with ahead of facing the Hammers in the form of Ederson and Kevin De Bruyne.

Here is the latest update on the crucial duo.

Ederson

City have confirmed they will be without Ederson for the visit of West Ham and next week’s FA Cup final against Manchester United.

The Brazilian was forced off the field at Tottenham after suffering a nasty blow to the head.

It was since revealed, though Ederson didn’t suffer a concussion, he has fractured an eye socket and can play no further part in the campaign.

What City said in a statement: “Manchester City can confirm that Ederson will miss the final two games of the season due to a small fracture of his eye socket.

“The Brazilian goalkeeper suffered the injury during our 2-0 win at Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday evening.

“He has since undergone scans of the affected area that have revealed a small fracture to the right eye socket.

“The injury will prevent Ederson from playing any further part in the remaining games of the 2023/24 season.

“Everyone at the Club wishes Ederson a speedy recovery.”

Potential return date: Pre-season

Kevin De Bruyne

Kevin De Bruyne was also taken off in North London as Ederson made his way from the field.

The brilliant Belgian received a painful blow to his Achilles but was hopeful after the game that it wouldn’t keep him out of action.

What De Bruyne said: “I think I’m alright,” he told Sky Sports:

“It’s a bit sore but it’s just the place, the Achilles is really sore at the moment and it felt like it was a knife at the moment from the impact but it’s an impact so it’s not bad. It’ll be alright.”
