'Just unbelievable': Alan Shearer blown away by 'phenomenal' Chelsea player who's making everything look easy

Alan Shearer has admitted that he’s super impressed by one Chelsea player that is making everything look so easy on the football pitch right now.

It’s been another turbulent campaign at Stamford Bridge that’s led to plenty of criticism of Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea side.

However, the Blues go into Sunday’s final day of the Premier League season sixth in the division table and on the brink of European qualification.

Chelsea will be playing in Europe next season if they avoid defeat at home to Bournemouth on the weekend.

Alan Shearer blown away by ‘phenomenal’ Chelsea star

Alan Shearer has been left in awe by what he’s seen from Chelsea’s Cole Palmer this season.

He’s said the 22-year-old Blues attacker looks effortless on the pitch right now and is a super talent.

When discussing Palmer on The Rest Is Football podcast, Shearer said: “Phenomenal talent. He just has this body language which makes everything look stupidly easy. His control and everything about his manner just looks so relaxed and comfortable. He’s just unbelievable, he’s brilliant.”

Gary Lineker also commented on the podcast: “Cole Palmer, his 22nd Premier League goal of the season. What a footballer. I’d forgotten as well, he didn’t play the first nine games of the season. I mean his numbers are incredible and he’s so silky. He could end up being the best of the lot.”

Cole Palmer can break Frank Lampard record on the final day

Palmer scored his 22nd Premier League goal of the season during Wednesday night’s 2-1 victory away to Brighton. Incidentally, that means the Blues have now won four games in a row.

Palmer equalled Chelsea legend Frank Lampard in midweek with his 22nd league goal, the most he managed during his playing career.

If Palmer scores on Sunday at home to Bournemouth, he’ll eclipse Lampard’s best ever league scoring season.

Are you watching Gareth Southgate?

England boss Gareth Southgate doesn’t have an easy job when it comes to picking his team for this summer’s Euro 2024 tournament, but surely several Chelsea players are on his mind.

Firstly, Palmer’s had a stunning season and needs minutes, whether that’s starting or off the bench. As for Conor Gallagher, he could provide a great option in midfield this summer.

Blues full-backs Reece James and Ben Chilwell are two more you’ve got to consider for the Three Lions, but perhaps their injury records will go against them.
