The Russian army launched an offensive in the north of Kharkiv region ahead of schedule. The task now is to prevent further advancement, according to Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi.
"Russia launched an offensive much earlier than planned when he noticed the redeployment of our troops, but he failed to break through our defense," he writes.
At the same time, there will be heavy fighting ahead and the enemy is preparing for it, Syrskyi adds.
According to him, it is necessary to prevent further advancement of Russian troops by steadily holding the occupied borders and positions, air strikes, missile systems, artillery, and tank fire to inflict maximum losses on them, as well as to create conditions for defeat by mobile assault groups and units with attacks to the flank and rear from different directions.
"Of course, we have to make the most of our advantage in attack UAVs in combination with the use of electronic warfare and accurate artillery fire. My work has been devoted to these issues, as well as to the regrouping of troops and the simplification of the comprehensive support system," the Ukrainian Armed Forces chief writes.
Russian army offensive in Kharkiv region
On the night of May 10, the Russian army launched an offensive in the north of Kharkiv region. Russia captured about ten settlements.
According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Russian army has advanced no more than 10 km. According to him, no one has reached the concrete defense line.
