McDonald’s has just announced a brand new dessert, the Grandma McFlurry, and many are wondering what flavor it is.
The ice cream is launching at restaurants across the US on May 21 and celebrates grandparents everywhere.

McDonald’s is the place where lifelong memories are made with grandma,” the fast food chain said in a press release. “From treating us to an impromptu soft serve to letting us have dessert first – grandmas always know how to make us feel special.”
They are inviting grandchildren to celebrate Grandma and recreate some of those cherished moments by treating themselves to a Grandma McFlurry, which will be available for a limited time nationwide.
The ice cream comes in a cute pink cup and says “Xo, Grandma” on the front as a “sweet ode” to honor the special woman in your life, whether you call her Grams, Abuela, Oma, Lola, Halmoni, Yiayia or something else.

You’ll be pleased to hear the new McFlurry isn’t flavored with rose, lavender or any other scents you may associate with old people. In fact, the ice cream doesn’t actually have a specific flavor at all. It’s not strawberry or chocolate, it’s just “sweet” and designed to taste like candy.
“The new McFlurry is sweet – just like grandma – and features a delicious syrup and chopped, crunchy candy pieces,” McDonald’s said.
The picture shows a yellow-colored syrup on the top, so it could have a hint of toffee, caramel or butterscotch. It’s just designed to taste like grandma’s favorite treat that she hid in her purse, which could be all sorts from a chewy toffee to a lemon drop.
“The Grandma McFlurry tastes like a trip down memory lane, and we’re excited to give our fans that experience while honoring the grandma-figure in all our lives,” said Tariq Hassan, Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer at McDonald’s.

McDonald’s is giving some people in one major city the chance to try the new Grandma McFlurry early, before the official release date with its ice cream truck.
On Friday, May 17 and Saturday, May 18, Grandma’s McFlurry Mobile will be stopping at locations across New York City, including senior centers and assisted living homes and giving away the new McFlurry for free.
