Mateusz Klich posts two-word reaction to Leeds United’s play-off semi-final win over Norwich

Mateusz Klich has posted his reaction to Leeds United’s 4-0 play-off semi-final victory over Norwich City last night.

Klich is one of a number of former Leeds stars to have shared their joy at the Whites’ emphatic win over the Canaries, including Luke Ayling and none other than Mirco Antenucci.

The Polishman experienced all of the ups and downs of a promotion campaign during his time at Leeds. He was part of the side who were beaten by Derby County five years ago, before romping to the Championship title a year later.

Having won their first home play-off tie since 1987, Leeds will be hoping it is sixth time lucky in terms of being promoted via this route.

It was certainly a special occasion at Elland Road which was set on its way by Ilia Gruev’s incredible seventh minute free-kick which caught out Angus Gunn.

Joel Piroe and Georginio Rutter then added to the scoreline before the break, with Crysencio Summerville rounding off the scoring from a Junior Firpo cutback.

Klich posts reaction to Leeds semi-final win

It’s now almost 18 months since Klich’s exit from Leeds but that has not stopped him from showing his support from across the pond in Washington DC.

He posted on Twitter ahead of Coventry City’s clash with Ipswich Town earlier this month which was decisive in Leeds’ automatic promotion hopes.

Klich also gave his seal of approval to what Dan James did late on in the 3-1 victory over Leicester City in February, showing he is always keeping an eye on his former club.

And he was one of many past and present players to react on Instagram to Leeds’ incredible win last night, sharing a picture from the game simply with the caption, ‘LETS GO!’

Hopefully in just nine days time he will be posting a similar reaction to Leeds going one step further and winning at Wembley to seal a return to the Premier League.

Liam Cooper effectively confirms Leeds exit

As mentioned, Klich was part of that promotion side under Marcelo Bielsa four years ago which will forever be remembered.

However, this summer is set to represent the end of an area with Ayling, Stuart Dallas and Liam Cooper all looking set to leave.

Ayling’s departure was confirmed after his loan move to Middlesbrough in January, while Dallas announced his retirement due to injury last month.

Cooper is also out of contract and not expected to be offered a new deal, effectively confirming as such last night. He received a brilliant reception from all corners of Elland Road.

He said: “As I have said many times previously, not only playing for Leeds, but captain of this amazing club is a huge honour.

“One which I never take for granted. It has been a pleasure leading this group of players this season and naturally I want nothing more than for the campaign to finish in the way we all dream of,”
