Arsenal star has now agreed to join Newcastle United, 'it's done'

One Arsenal player is said to have agreed to sign for Premier League rivals Newcastle United this summer.

The Gunners are gearing up for the final day of the Premier League season. Sunday will either give us fans a lot of joy or immense disappointment.

Either way, Arsenal are expected to be active in this summer’s transfer window, and one player seems to have decided on his next club.

Arsenal star Aaron Ramsdale has agreed to join Newcastle United

Arsenal star Aaron Ramsdale has had a very difficult season.

The England international was the Gunners’ undisputed number one for two years. He started this season as Mikel Arteta‘s first-choice goalkeeper as well, but his fortunes changed very quickly.

After the first four games in the Premier League, Ramsdale was dropped and Mikel Arteta brought David Raya into his starting lineup.

The Spanish goalkeeper had a difficult start to life at the Emirates, but his performances since the turn of 2024 have proved that Arteta was right to trust him.

Raya has now won the Golden Glove award as well, which is a fantastic achievement.

Ramsdale is in a difficult position now. It’s extremely unlikely that he will displace Raya in goal, and everyone knows the Englishman is too good to be a number two.

So, a move away from Arsenal this summer is likely, and Sky Sports journalist James Green has now claimed that Ramsdale has agreed to sign for Newcastle United this summer.

He said on The Highbury Squad: “I’ll give you this. I understand and I found out directly from a player’s agent that one of our players is off to Newcastle and a deal has been agreed. One that has caused debate and divide this season.

“Do you know who I’m going to say? It is my understanding that Aaron Ramsdale has agreed to join Newcastle in the summer.

“That has come directly from speaking to somebody who I am very close with who has spoken to his agent and he’s said it’s done, the deal is happening.”

Edu could use Aaron Ramsdale to sign the next Thierry Henry

It is no secret that Newcastle United are admirers of Aaron Ramsdale.

The goalkeeper has been linked with a move to St James’ Park since before the turn of 2024, and he would be an upgrade over both Nick Pope and Martin Dubravka there.

Arsenal will likely look to cash in on Ramsdale. The Englishman is a magnificent goalkeeper and the fact that he is still only 26 will help Edu Gaspar get a significant amount of money from his sale.

However, instead of just selling Ramsdale, we think Arsenal should use him in a player-plus-cash deal to sign Alexander Isak this summer.

The Swede is said to be Mikel Arteta’s number one target, and with Arsenal looking for a new number nine, who better to sign than the man who has been dubbed as the next Thierry Henry?!

If Edu can sign Isak in a deal that would see Ramsdale go the other way, it will be one of his best pieces of business as Arsenal’s sporting director.
