Mikel Arteta now calls for David Moyes to help achieve Arsenal 'dream' against Man City

Arsenal are going into the final day of the Premier League season relying on West Ham to take points from Manchester City to help them in the title race.

Mikel Arteta will face his old side Everton, who successfully avoided relegation, but even if Arsenal win, they need Man City to drop points if they are to win a first title since 2004.

David Moyes has not beaten Pep Guardiola in the Premier League before, but Arteta will still need to rely on his former manager to beat the coach who first offered him a role as an assistant.

Arteta has now admitted that whilst he has not spoken directly to Moyes, he is hoping that the Scot can do him a favour, in his final game in charge of West Ham.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Arteta praised his former boss, and admitted that he needs help in this title race.

“No I don’t think I need to do that,” he replied when asked if he had spoken to Moyes about the upcoming fixtures.

“He’s been instrumental and so important in my career, not only as a footballer but as a person as well.

“He could help us to fulfil our dream and my personal dream to win the Premier League. That would be unbelievable and always be in my memory.”

Arteta enjoyed a productive spell at Everton under Moyes, making 209 appearances for Everton under him, the most he has made for any manager, with 150 coming under Arsene Wenger at Arsenal.

The Spaniard has a strong managerial record against Moyes, with six wins and two draws in 10 games, but one loss did affect his title chances in a shock 2-0 defeat at the Emirates, and another in the Carabao Cup in this campaign as well.

Arsenal did have the last laugh as they thrashed West Ham 6-0 at the London Stadium, in what could be Moyes’ last game against the Gunners.

If Moyes can do Arteta one more favour and even draw with Man City, then it would hand Arsenal the chance to make history by beating Guardiola to Premier League glory in the most dramatic fashion.
