Veteran rapper and producer Sean "Diddy" Combs has been fighting sexual abuse allegations for months. And on Friday, May 17, CNN aired a disturbing video that, according to reporter Brianna Keilar, "really seems to support at least some of the abuse claims against Sean 'Diddy' Combs."
The hotel surveillance footage from 2016, according to CNN, appears to show Combs repeatedly hitting his then-girlfriend, singer Cassie Ventura, inside a hotel and kicking her when she was on the ground.
CNN's Elizabeth Wagmeister noted that Ventura, who dated Combs for about a decade, filed the "first lawsuit" that started "this domino effect of civil suits that have now come out against him."

Wagmeister noted that in the lawsuit, which was quickly settled, Ventura "alleged that she was assaulted in the hallway of a Los Angeles hotel."
According to Wagmeister, a court filing in the lawsuit alleges that Combs became "extremely intoxicated and punched Ms. Ventura in the face, giving her a black eye."
The filing also alleges that when Ventura tried to leave the hotel, Combs "began screaming at Ms. Ventura."
"He followed her into the hallway of the hotel while yelling at her," the filing reads. "He grabbed at her, and then took glass vases in the hallway and threw them at her, causing glass to crash around them as she ran to the elevator to escape."

Combs, now 54, emerged as a major figure in hip-hop and R&B in the early 1990s, working with the late Brooklyn rapper Notorious B.I.G., singer Mary J. Blige and others.
In her lawsuit, filed in November 2023, Ventura alleged that she suffered a "cycle of abuse, violence and sex trafficking" in her relationship with Combs.
