Ukraine expects more than 100 countries to take part in the peace summit in Switzerland, which will be a powerful signal of support for the country's independence and territorial integrity, according to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak.

According to him, Ukraine will consider a large number of countries attending the summit as a victorious outcome.

“We have invited more than 100 countries and expect a large number of them to attend. This will be a powerful signal of support for Ukraine's independence and territorial integrity,” Yermak said.

He also added that it is very important to send a signal that world leaders can resolve such difficult issues as ending the war and seeking a just peace without Russia's participation.

"At least in terms of forming a clear plan, which will then be presented to the aggressor country. Further, the decisions that can be agreed upon are also very important,” explained the head of the Presidential Office.

The first step to end the war

Yermak explained that this would involve overcoming the crises created by the war, namely the food crisis, the issue of navigation in the Black Sea, the return of prisoners, and another important issue for Ukraine - nuclear safety, and the safety of energy facilities.

“Of course, this is the first step that we consider to be a powerful step towards achieving the most important goal - ending the war and achieving a just peace,” Yermak summarized.

Global Peace Summit

The Global Peace Summit will be held in Switzerland on June 15-16 this year. Countries seeking ways to resolve the war in Ukraine and bring it to an end will participate. Russia has not been invited to the event.

However, not all countries have confirmed their participation, and states loyal to the Russian Federation are reluctant to make a decision. For instance, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has decided not to participate in the peace summit on Ukraine.
