Ole Miss rounded out the top 20 of the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings last cycle. With the summer underway, the Rebels are looking to level up on the recruiting trail for their 2025 class.
Lane Kiffin and Co. have built a solid foundation, as Ole Miss currently checks in with the No. 16 class in the nation and No. 9 class in the SEC, as of June 19.
A total of 12 prospects currently make up the class, headlined by an elite in-state recruit.
Ole Miss Class Breakdown
The class didn’t feature a prospect until February, but a major addition came in March in the form of Quitman (Miss.) four-star running back Akylin Dear. He chose the Rebels over Auburn, Alabama and others and is the No. 2 player in the Magnolia State.
Five recruits pledged in April, including Horn Lake (Miss.) Lake Cormorant four-star linebacker Jarcoby Hopson, a top-200 recruit and top-20 player at his position. West Jordan (Utah) Corner Canyon four-star wide receiver Jerome Myles, Gautier (Miss.) Saraland four-star WR Dillon Alfred, Daphne (Ala.) three-star EDGE Talib Graham and Buford (Ga.) three-star tight end Hayden Bradley also joined the fold last month.
More firepower has come along this month. Auburndale (Fla.) Lakeland four-star safety Keon Young is a top-25 player at his position, while Hattiesburg (Miss.) Oak Grove four-star defensive lineman Andrew Maddox is the No. 16 DL in the cycle and a top-200 prospect.
Opelousas (La.) three-star EDGE Corey Amos was the first commit in the class, as he pledged on Feb. 3. He rounds out the pledge list alongside Tupelo (Miss.) three-star cornerback Maison Dunn, Columbia (Mo.) Naples three-star offensive tackle Taren Hedrick and Monroe (La.) River Oaks three-star OT Kenneth Boston.
Top Offensive Commit: RB Akylin Dear
The 6-foot, 200-pound Dear was being pursued heavily by multiple other programs in the SEC, but opted to stay home and feature atop Ole Miss’ 2025 class. He ranks No. 36 overall and No. 2 at the tailback position.
Dear told On3 this upon making his commitment public:
“I’ve been feeling like Ole Miss is home. And I’m ready now … It was a difficult [decision] because there was a lot of places to go play at. But I’m from Mississippi, ya know? It’s great to be staying home. Ain’t anything better than the ‘Sip.”
Top Defensive Commit: DL Andrew Maddox
Maddox is set to follow his brother and current Ole Miss Rebel AJ Maddox to Oxford. The in-state program was long trending for his pledge and he finally made the call in the summer, pledging on June 17. He is the No. 175 overall prospect, No. 16 DL and No. 6 player in Mississippi.
The blue-chipper detailed his interest in Ole Miss earlier this year with On3’s Chad Simmons:
“They are developing players and they won 11 games last year. Me and Coach Pete, we have a connection. He recruited me when he was at Alabama. When he moved to Ole Miss, that brought me closer to him,” he said.
“My brother is going there, so that’s what also drew me closer to Ole Miss. (Defensive line) coach (Randall) Joyner is like a second father to me. He’s taken me under his wing and shown me around, shown me things and we are building a relationship. I am getting to know him and I feel safe around him.”
