All strike drones launched by the Russian army for attacks on Ukraine were destroyed by air defense forces and means. Ukrainian defenders also eliminated all Shahed drones in the past day, according to the Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk.
It is noted that overall, on the night of May 18, the enemy attacked the territory of Ukraine with 13 strike UAVs of the Shahed-131/136 type, launched from the areas of Prymorsko-Akhtarsk and Kursk.
According to the general, as a result of the anti-aircraft battle by anti-aircraft missile units, mobile fire groups of the Air Force, and the Defense Forces of Ukraine, all 13 Shahed drones were shot down.
He clarified that the combat work to repel the air attack was carried out on the territory of 5 regions, namely:
- in Kharkiv,
- Poltava,
- Vinnytsia,
- Mykolaiv,
- Dnipropetrovsk.
Attacks by Shahed drones
Earlier, it was reported that after midnight on May 18, air alarm was declared in several regions of Ukraine due to the detection of enemy strike drones' movement. It lasted until 04:35.
In the Air Force Command, it was reported that enemy kamikaze drones were maneuvering over various regions, and the launch of another group of Shahed drones was observed.
During the previous night's air attack using Shahed drones on May 17, all 20 enemy strike drones were shot down by the Ukrainian Air Defense Forces. The defense work to repel both this and the previous attack was carried out on the territory of 5 regions.
